Urlabari, Morang –Urlabari Multiple Campus (UMC), Urlabari–4, Morang successfully conducted a Three-Day Psycho-Social Counselling Programme for students of BBS, B.Ed., and B.A. since 2082-10-20 to 2082-10-22. The programme was organized by the Employment Promotion, Student Counselling and Grievance Redress Sub-Committee of the campus with the objective of promoting students’ mental well-being, emotional resilience, and personal development.
The event brought together students from different faculties in an interactive learning environment that emphasized mental health awareness, stress management, and practical coping strategies for academic and personal challenges caused by symptomatic and casual emotional imbalances.
On the first day, the session was facilitated by Ashisha Thapa, Chairperson of Aakar Foundation, Urlabari. Ms. Thapa, being a professional psycho-social counsellor, conducted engaging discussions on understanding emotions, recognizing stress triggers,measures for coping with them and developing healthy communication skills.
Through group activities, real-life case discussions, and reflective exercises, students were encouraged to openly share their experiences and concerns. Her session focused on strengthening self-awareness and building a positive mindset among youth.
Similarly,the second and third days were facilitated by Suresh Khadka, Head of the Health Department, Urlabari Municipality. Mr. Khadka delivered comprehensive sessions on mental health challenges faced by students, including anxiety, depression, peer pressure, and academic stress.
He provided practical guidance on stress management techniques, time management, emotional regulation, and seeking professional support when necessary. The interactive format allowed students to ask questions freely and receive professional advice in a supportive environment.
Special emphasis was placed on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encouraging students to seek help without hesitation. The facilitator highlighted the importance of creating a supportive campus culture where students feel heard and valued.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across BBS, B.Ed., and B.A. streams. Participants expressed that the sessions were highly informative, relevant, and transformative. Many students shared that the programme helped them better understand their emotions and develop confidence in handling personal and academic challenges.
The campuschief, Mr. Khemraj Karki, appreciated the facilitators for their valuable contribution and reaffirmed its commitment to organizing similar awareness and counselling programmes in the future.The coordinator of The Employment Promotion, Student Counselling and Grievance Redress Sub-Committee and the chairperson of the programme Mr. Nagendra Bahadur Ghimire emphasized that student mental health remains a top priority for the institution and concluded the three days`session with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the facilitators` contribution, proactive role of the campus administration, and the students for making the programme meaningful and successful.
